Many rumours have surrounded Ferrari during last weeks and many parties think that Kimi Räikkönen's arrival to the team is certain. The team's management has replied to the inquiries by stating that Fernando Alonso will continue according to his contract and they also want to keep Felipe Massa in the team. Ferrari is deliberately misleading the media with these comments.
In reality Ferrari decided already in June that the cooperation with Massa would not continue. His results simply aren't good enough. Massa knows the situation and he is motivated to achieve good enough results in the endseason so that he could continue in F1 next year in another team. Massa is a candidate for at least Sauber.
In Fernando Alonso's case they have noticed last weeks that Ferrari-management's syrupy comments about his excellence start to be in history already. Luca di Montezemolo stated in a straighforward tone about Alonso's behaviour that critisizing Ferrari in public is not allowed. Due to the poor success Alonso has apparently got enough and the last straw was Ferrari's decision to hire Kimi Räikkönen to the team. Räikkönen's arrival to Ferrari means automatically that Alonso's status #1 ends.
Stefano Domenicali commented on the Räikkös-rumour mysteriously.
- Kimi is a really fast driver and everybody knows how highly I appreciate his talent. But it would be understood as a straight reply if I would comment more on him. We are in no hurry to make our decision. We will do it when the time is right, Domenicali said on the official Formula One -website.
Domenicali claimed in the interview that the choice concerns Massa or his replacement. In reality Ferrari is waiting for Fernando Alonso's decision. If Alonso decides to continue in Ferrari, then Räikkönen's contract will be announced pretty soon. If Alonso leaves Ferrari, then Ferrari will hire a new driver who probably will be Nico Hülkenberg. The negotiations take time and it may be that we hear the announcements in October. Before that we can expect all kinds of rumours and Ferrari's opposite assurances.

Wechselt Alonso vielleicht mit Santander zu Lotus oder McLaren?
